N-Octyldiethanolamine (ODEOA) is typically employed in metal working fluids as pH buffering additive. ODEOA pure is a tertiary amine that provides anti-corrosion properties when added to metal working fluids formulations.

ODEOA properties:
- Multi-purpose anti-corrosion tertiary amine
- Usually employed as pH buffering additive (pKa 9.0) in emulsifiable metal working fluid formulations
- Soluble in mineral oils, alcohols and esters and dispersible in water
- Due to high boiling point (319 °C at 1 atm) is low VOC
Metal working fluids
ODEOA offers anti-corrosion properties when added to metal working fluids formulations. Due to its high-boiling point, it as a low VOC and ideal for the use in emulsifiable formulation due to its low solubility in water, and good solubility in mineral oils, alcohols and esters.
ODEOA pure thanks to its high purity has a low content of secondary amines and other side-components, which reduces the risk of formation of secondary amines and makes it use safer for the user and the environment.
