N-(3-Aminopropyl)imidazole

N-(3-Aminopropyl)imidazole is a colorless to yellow liquid, with an amine-like odor. It is miscible with water in all proportions. 

Coatings

N-(3-Aminopropyl)-imidazole is a selective catalyst for epoxy and urethanes reactions. It can also be used  for modification of epoxy resins and for preparation of polyurethanes. The pendent imidazole functionality improves the adhesion properties of the resin.

It is also used to incorporate the imidazole group onto the polymer backbone in the production of dispersing agent polymers.

Foams

It is a low volatility catalyst in the production of molded soft polyurethane foams for automotive applications.

Lubricants

N-(3-Aminopropyl)-imidazole is used as a building block for viscosity index improvers.
